Darjeeling 1st Flush – Singell Estate

It doesn’t get much better than early spring harvest Darjeeling tea! This vintage style first flush was harvested at 5,000ft elevation on the Singell Estate in Darjeeling. Singell was established in 1861 and has been producing world class Darjeeling teas since. This “vintage style” has slightly more oxidation than many modern first flush teas, while still retaining some of its fresh, green character. Tippy and light with balanced body and rich flavor, this tea brews a beautiful, pale amber with aromas of cedar and gardenias with a mildly sweet finish.

A good tea to sip while watching a flower bloom.

Da Xue Shan

This high grown Chinese black tea from Yunnan’s Lincang region is an excellent everyday drinking black tea. Grown in the village of Mengku in the shadows of Big Snow Mountain (Da Xue Shan), this wirey black tea has an equal amount of golden buds and dark black leaves. The balanced one bud to one leaf picking gives this tea strength and subtlety. Earthy and bold, this tea brews dark, yet clean with bitter chocolate flavors, malty sweetness, and a dry finish. Great for an early morning breakfast.

Simao Pure Bud

This is an amazing autumn harvest, 100% pure bud, Chinese black tea from the Simao region of Yunnan. These large new bud sprouts are hand picked and expertly processed into a fluffy, delicate black tea with a sublimely complex flavor. Brewing a clear orange brown color, the pure bud pick gives this tea a soft and smooth flavor. Sweet, subtle fruit aromas give way to earthy pine nut flavors and a lingering chocolate finish. A wonderful black tea to sip when you’re feeling decadent.

Lao Shan

Lao Shan is a unique black tea from outside the city of Qingdao in China’s north-east province of Shandong. Grown on a family farm, the delicate, spring plucked and uniformly curled leaves have a deep dark color with an almost metallic sheen. The tea brews clear, bright orange with an aroma of molasses and leather. The flavor is complex and satisfying with hints if plum, lingering wood smoke, and a touch of umami sea air. A great tea to enjoy while getting lost in an epic novel.

A superior grade black tea from the Sessa Estate in Assam, India. Beautiful, small curled leaves and an abundance of golden tips give this bold and malty breakfast-style tea a delicate and sophisticated touch. Malt and dark chocolate dominate the flavor with a slightly sweet aroma, dry finish, and mildly bitter aftertaste. Great for early mornings with or without a touch of milk.

Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong

A bold black tea from the Wuyi Mountains of Fujian Province, China. Small, tender, spring picked tea leaves are fully oxidized to create a dark and flavorful black tea. Possibly the original black tea variety, Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong is a popular tea in China and is famous the world over as the inspiration for Lapsang Souchong. Note that this tea IS NOT the heavily smoked Lapsang Souchong variety. This Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong brews bright and malty with rich brown sugar and fruit notes with a lingering sweetness. A enlivening black tea for a cold winter morning.

Golden Needle

A wonderfully approachable and satisfying Golden Needle tea that is both delicate and rich. Harvested exclusively from the long, delicate buds that emerge throughout the hillsides of Feng Qing during the new spring season. These delicate, fuzzy buds are oxidized to an even golden, yellow color and brew up a deep orange tea with a rich nutty aroma. This tea has a thick, creamy feel that coats the mouth with a strong flavor of dark chocolate, cinnamon, and a lingering honey aftertaste. A smooth, bold tea that will leave you wanting one more cup.
